How magnetic actuation works

Unlike a conventional motor-driven valve, a magnetic actuator can reposition the regulating element directly. Different product generations use different electronic control and feedback arrangements.

02

History: earlier than 1990

Period Staefa documentation carries dates in 1988 and 1989, while a patent filed in 1984 references an earlier Staefa catalogue. The exact first year of commercial sales has not yet been independently established.

03

Current Siemens families

Modern families such as MXG461 and MXF461 use rapid electromagnetic positioning. Exact response times and electrical signals depend on the selected model.

Fast regulation using electromagnetic actuation

Magnetic modulating valves use electromagnetic movement of the regulating element instead of a conventional geared motor drive. Their behaviour and suitability depend on the specific product generation and control electronics.

Staefa heritage and Siemens products

The technology has a historical connection with Staefa Control System, with documented technical material preceding 1990. Later Siemens families include MXG461 and MXF461. Historical dates should be presented as documented milestones, not unsupported claims about the first commercial product.

Engineering considerations

Evaluate flow range, valve characteristic, permissible differential pressure, control interface, electrical supply and application requirements. Some electromagnetic valves can provide rapid response, but the actual response time is defined by the model and its operating conditions.
