Monitoring electricity use across dispersed production
The SNEŽNIK facility in Kočevska Reka operates in forestry and wood processing, with production areas spread across different locations. The archived project aimed to improve visibility into electricity-supply issues and operating demand at production lines.
Implemented architecture
Elnet LT TCP/IP electrical analysers were installed in selected distribution boards and connected through the local area network to a server running ElnetWEB. The data was archived for reporting and analysis. The original project also described the option to forward relevant alarms to responsible people by email or SMS.
Operational uses described in the archive
- Recognising demand patterns and unwanted peaks.
- Identifying machines left drawing unnecessary power when idle.
- Comparing power use as wood-processing tools become worn.
- Investigating reactive-energy behaviour and certain wiring problems.
- Responding more quickly to problems affecting production-line operation.
These observations describe a historical project and are not a quantified guarantee of savings at another industrial facility.
